Information about the Department of Meteorology and Climatology
In 1995, at the Faculty of Physics of the Tajik State University named after V.I. Lenin (now the National University of Tajikistan) opened a new specialty – meteorology.
The meteorology specialty first began its activities at the Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics, headed by Associate Professor A. Salomov. Then, at the expense of a number of faculty teachers in this specialty, the Department of Meteorology was created, headed by the dean of the faculty (1987-1998), corresponding member of the RT AI, Professor F. .Kh. . Khakimov was responsible.
The first teachers of the department were Professor F.Kh. Hakimov, associate professor Z. Nizamov, M. Nuraliyev, A. Kurbanov, fellow teachers M. Safarov, J. Baidulloeva, A. Hamidov, O. Mirzokhanov and assistants R. Podshoev, S. Mirzohonova, Z. Kukanieva were.
In 2009, the specialty of meteorology was added to the department of astronomy (head of the department, Professor Ibodinov H.I.).
In 2014, with the proposal of the Department of Physics and the Board of the DMT and the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the department was revived under the name of the Department of Meteorology and Climatology, which prepares future specialists in this field. Now the head of the department is from 2014 to the present day, associate member of AI RT, professor I.Sh. Normatov is responsible.
Currently, there is one professor (Normatov I.Sh.), one associate professor (N.I.F.-M. Sharipov J.G.), two senior teachers (N.I.T., Mirzohonova S.) in the Department of Meteorology and Climatology. O., n.i.g., Muminov A.O.), one assistant (n.i.t., N.B. Qurbanov) and one engineer (Odinaev K.O.).
The plan for the transition of the teachers of the department from professional development courses was carried out correctly, and during the activity of the department of meteorology and climatology, all teachers passed various professional development courses. Teachers of the department Normatov I.Sh. in 2015, Mirzohonova S.O. 2016, 2018, Sharipov J.G. 2016, 2019, Muminov A.O. in 2017, 2019, 2020, Odinaev K.N. 2017, 2020 and Kurbanov N.B. In 2018, 2019, they passed professional development courses.
Along with passing the professional development courses at DMT, a number of teachers of the department have passed professional development courses in higher professional institutions abroad. For example, assistant of the department Mirzohonova S.O. In the fall of 2015, he completed a full training course at the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring of Russia, and in the summer of 2018, he completed a training course at the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan.
Another assistant of the department, Normatov P.I. In 2017, he won the US Fulbright Grant Program competition for scientists and studied at the University of Colorado in Boulder for a year. Assistant Qurbanov N.B. In June 2018, he completed the training course of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which was held in Bishkek.
The defense of scientific theses in the department is very significant, and since 2014, teachers have successfully defended their candidate’s theses in the field of science.
In 2016, the teacher of the department P.I. Normatov at the State University of Hydrometeorology of Russia on the topic “Geoecological assessment of pollution of surface water and snow in the basin of the Transgranichnoi River of Zerovshan” in the direction of candidacy in geographical sciences on the specialty 25.00.36 – Geoecology (31/05/2016).

Muminov at the State University of Hydrometeorology of Russia on the topic “Geoecological assessment of surface contamination of water in the basin of the Vakhsh river and the influence of water reservoirs and climatic conditions of coastal areas” in the direction of candidacy in geographical sciences, specialty 25.00.36 – Geoecology (29/09/2020).
The management of the faculty and the university took the necessary measures to promote its work. At the same time, under the guidance of the teachers of the department, students of meteorology and climatology participate with their scientific and research works not only in university and republican but also international competitions and conferences.
For example, in 2017, students of the department Normahmedova Z.O. (the second leader, Kurbanov N.B.) and Odinaev K.N. (led by A.O. Muminov) won the first and third places in the republican scientific-research competition of students of higher vocational education institutions – “Students and scientific and technical progress”. A.A. Mashrabov, a student of the department. (led by N.B. Qurbanov) in 2018 won the third place in the competition “Students and scientific and technical progress”. Also, in 2017, student Vosidov F.Q. along with other students of higher professional institutions of Central Asian countries, he participated in the scientific expedition of students, which took place in the southern glaciers of Kyrgyzstan.
In 2018, the student of the department Sharifova T.A.
